Yahoo! Mail Bug?

I may not be the first to see this (bug?). Serves me right for switching from Mail Classic to the latest and greatest Yahoo! Mail. After recent layoffs at Yahoo!, I wonder if they have enough folks left to look at these “minor” issues.

Yahoo! Layoff

As a software developer, I sympathize with the 100s of software developers that were laid off at Yahoo! today. While I am sure many of them will not have any difficulty finding another job in silicon valley and/or elsewhere, I hope this serves as a reminder that each of us should look out for our [...]

Your On?

Just saw this flash ad on order confirmation page of Amazon.com:
The flash animation ends with:
What does Your On mean? Isn’t that a typo?

CNN.com’s New Look

Just noticed CNN.com has a new look. The page looks clean and the navbar near the top of the page is nicely done. I understand CNN’s urge to have “Video” way up there but I would have liked to see the location of “Markets” swapped with that of “Video”. And, yes, the search bar, powered [...]

Terry Semel Stepped Down as CEO?

I am not sure I believe that Terry Semel stepped down of his own volition. Could Terry Semel Stepped Down as CEO be an euphemism for Terry Semel Ousted as CEO? I think so. While retaining him as non-executive Chairman may incorrectly indicate that he wasn’t ousted, I strongly believe he has been retained as [...]

Yahoo! Mail Blasts Storage Meter to Smithereens

A little over three years ago, Google announced GMail with 1 GB storage limit when Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail were offering 6 MB or less. That announcement was so widely covered in the media that most users of free web-based email couldn’t wait to sign up with GMail. GMail forced Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail to [...]

Why are Internet Businesses Run Inefficiently?

Recently I was tasked with closing down a website which was hosted by Netfirms.com. On Netfirms.com there is no way to cancel the webhosting account. In fact, there is no mention of how to close an account on its website. Instead, one is forced to submit a customer support ticket online. In response to the [...]

Yahoo! Stuffing the Page with the Same Content More Than Once

Looks like not much is happening at Yahoo! lately. I’ve seen the same news item in multiple tabs on the same page before but these days the same news items are appearing more than once within the same tab on a page. I hope it is just a programmer error. This and thisare couple examples [...]

Cannot Have Alerts Sent for Calls or Puts on Yahoo! Finance?

Yahoo! Finance allows for having alerts be sent to Email, Messenger or Mobile when certain user-set price criteria are met for stocks or options. While it works for stocks, it doesn’t work for options. Not sure if this ever worked but I noticed this behavior only couple weeks ago. As of this moment, the incorrect [...]

Learn from Infosys: How to Drive Visitors Away from Website

This is from an application running on Infosys’ website. If this is what we get from Infosys, a renowned global IT firm, what kind of user experience can we expect from lesser websites? This unhelpful error message keeps showing up when I search for jobs (to apply to) on careers.infosys.com.
The complete URL for this [...]
