Should it have been XINE R instead of XTINE R?

I saw a vanity license plate, XTINE R, on a 3-series BMW. I think the owner meant ‘Christine’ with XINE. X like Christ in Xmas. It is not Xtmas, right? So why XTINE instead of XINE? Probably ‘coz X in Xmas is pronounced Chris and not Christ?
